Discover The Burrow

Nestled in the heart of Lake Forest Park, The Burrow feels like a hidden retreat that brings warmth, comfort, and deliciously crafted meals to the table. Located at 17171 Bothell Way NE Suite A015, Lake Forest Park, WA 98155, United States, it’s one of those places you stumble upon once and never forget. The moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by a cozy, wood-accented interior that feels more like a neighborhood gathering spot than a formal restaurant. There’s soft music playing in the background, the faint aroma of roasted coffee beans mingling with the scent of freshly baked bread, and a team of staff who seem genuinely happy to be there.

From the very first visit, what stood out to me was the attention to detail in every dish. The menu is not overwhelming but carefully curated to offer balance and creativity. Each plate looks thoughtfully designed, whether it’s their brunch favorite-crispy fried chicken over fluffy waffles drizzled with maple butter-or a hearty mushroom risotto cooked to creamy perfection. During a recent visit, I tried their seasonal butternut squash soup, and it felt like a spoonful of fall-smooth, earthy, and slightly sweet, topped with roasted pumpkin seeds for texture. I later learned that many ingredients are sourced from local farms around Washington, which not only supports the community but also ensures peak freshness. According to data from the USDA, locally sourced ingredients can retain up to 30% more nutrients than imported produce, a detail that reflects the restaurant’s commitment to quality.

Beyond the food, the experience is elevated by how the staff engages with guests. The servers are attentive but never intrusive, quick to offer recommendations that feel personalized rather than rehearsed. On one occasion, the manager shared that they rotate the wine list every few months to feature new Pacific Northwest wineries. That simple touch adds authenticity, making dining here not just about eating but discovering something new each time.

What truly makes this place stand out among nearby restaurants is its ability to create a sense of community. I’ve seen families celebrating birthdays, freelancers working over coffee, and couples sharing quiet dinners by candlelight-all under one roof. Online reviews mirror that same sentiment, with an impressive average rating hovering around 4.7 stars across multiple platforms like Yelp and Google Maps. Food critics from local publications such as Seattle Met have even highlighted its “unpretentious excellence,” praising both the service and the atmosphere. This aligns with the growing trend of diners favoring experiences over extravagance, as noted in a 2024 National Restaurant Association report indicating that 62% of consumers prefer restaurants offering “authentic, locally inspired” dishes over fine-dining formality.

It’s not just the food or service that earns loyalty-it’s the genuine feeling of being welcomed. You can taste the care in their coffee, sourced from a small Seattle roaster, and see it in how every plate arrives perfectly timed. The Burrow operates with a quiet confidence, built on the foundation of consistency and passion. The owners, long-time Washington residents, emphasize sustainability through compostable packaging and energy-efficient kitchen systems, small choices that collectively make a big difference. Their transparency about sourcing and cooking methods builds trust, an essential quality in today’s dining world where authenticity matters as much as flavor.

As someone who’s spent years exploring local eateries across King County, I can confidently say that this diner ranks high not just for taste but for overall experience. It’s rare to find a place that captures the warmth of home while maintaining the sophistication of a modern kitchen. Whether you’re stopping by for brunch, lunch, or an intimate dinner, there’s something comforting about the rhythm of this spot-the clinking of glasses, the laughter echoing softly, and the simple joy of good food shared among good company.

  • We were visiting the area and were drawn in by the atmosphere of this cafe which was attached to a taproom as well. Still family friendly though. The matcha I got was well blended and good quality. Perfectly steamed milk. My companions said they enjoyed their lattes with the coffee flavor coming through. But. . . The biscuit sandwiches with their jam was our favorite thing. Next time we are in the area I’m going to try the classic biscuit w/ avocado too. They are games on the taproom side, but it seems like you could pick a game to play if you’re staying a while.

  • An absolutely delightful little diner. The staff is super friendly, the food is delicious, and the decor is wonderful. The fox themed art and furry-themed food and drinks are an absolute delight, and I loved seeing so many furry stickers covering all of the napkin dispensers and whatnot.

  • Ordered the vegetarian Biscuits and Gravy w. mushroom-leek gravy and a Bearly Awake (soymilk latte w. house-made mapple cinnamon syrup). The verdict? Biscuits were AMAZINGLY savory and full of mushroom flavor, and the latte was wonderfully balanced between not-too-sweet and not-too-bitter. Lovely! They clearly have their menu dialed down to a few excellent dishes. Ideal for a cafe. Servers and baristas were clearly having a good time as was the clientelle. Tunes were nicely modern. Decor was progressively welcoming for the furry community that it serves (and its owned and operated by furries too!). Its really nice to have a place where people like us can come to be ourselves openly. Its worth going to, even if its a bit of a drive. I'll be back

  • Been hanging out at Vulpine Taproom for years now. The Cafe section is a wonderful daytime delight, especially being able to bring our kid to that area to hang out and spend time in the area. The menu is well balanced and thoughtful, focusing on custom creations for a unique experience. The staff are always pleasant and friendly and will call you by whatever name you give them. Dog-friendly as always. Grateful for both ice water and hot water. Now if only we can have coffee full-time in both venues ;)

  • What a great spot for a bite to eat and a wonderful coffee! Attached to Vulpine Taproom, this place is a VIBE. The go-to spot for me and friends the morning after a long night out. Had the Fox Madame and a very nice cortado.

  • The highly anticipated addition to the wonderful Vulpine Taproom! The ambience is just as fun and relaxed. Great drinks, food, music, art, and staff! You'll often find fun, eclectic people here, sometimes playing board or card games, creating art, and making engaging conversation. Once the Burrow approaches closing time, the Vulpine Taproom will come to life, too!

  • Bran new in Lake Forest Park. seating is abundant and comfortable. they have a big table for large parties, a set of comfy seats for the readers/laptop workers, and really cute decor including a big tree and a mural of a fox, and some wall art. Their pour-over coffee and cold brew is made with a very good quality roast and they have a variety of flavor profiles for coffee connosuers. One of their custom drinks is the fennec sunrise, which is a latte with lemon, tumeric, and cayanne, which very much compliments the espresso without being oppressively sweet- this one's amazing and i haven't found anything similar around here. a cute little robot makes the pourover helping wait times. The service is quick and polite and they've created an environment that's safe for families, all people, LGTBQ, and game-players. A good place to hang out and stay a while!

  • Such a cozy foresty vibe inside, and fantastic coffee to match. Love that it is in the same shared space as Vulpine so you can visit both sides. Super friendly staff! Bring stickers.
